Vice President, the Rt. Hon’ble Mr. Nanda Bahadur Pun, visited the Garden Tulln, the first fully organic permanent garden in Europe this morning. The garden is situated at the town of Tulln an der Donau, in the State of Lower Austria.
The Vice President was welcomed by His Excellency Dr. Martin Eichtinger Member of the Provincial Government of Lower Austria. The two sides explored potential avenues for exchanging knowledge and expertise in the field of organic gardening. They also exchanged ideas on combatting the adverse effects of climate change through positive actions at the sub-national and house-hold levels.
In the afternoon, the Vice President visited the “Schönbrunn Zoo” in Vienna and observed the pair of Rhinos which were gifted to Austria by the Government of Nepal in 2006. The Vice President was welcomed by the Director and curators of the Zoo. The Vice President and the Hon. Mr. Shakti Bahadur Basnet, Minister for Forest and Environment enquired with keen interest different aspects related to the inhabitation of the Rhinos.
In the afternoon itself, the Vice President also visited the premises of the Embassy of Nepal in Vienna and signed the guest book. He was welcomed at the Embassy by H.E. Prakash Kumar Suvedi, Ambassador and other officials and staff members of the Embassy.
The Vice President was accompanied by his spouse Mrs. Hastamali Pun, Hon. Mr. Shakti Bahadur Basnet, Minister for Forests and Environment, H.E. Prakash Kumar Suvedi, Ambassador of Nepal to Austria and other members of Nepali delegation on all occasions.
The Vice President left Vienna tonight for Kathmandu after completion of his visit.
